The Best Job Sites

As the year draws to a close, I wanted to share with you my favorite job sites.  The listing comes from a combination of personal research and client feedback.  Eight of the sites are "all purpose", while five are specific to defined job sectors.  Sites are listed in alphabetical order, and they are all free of charge (although some have premium upgrades available):

1) Allhealthcarejobs.com - Health Care

2) Careerbuilder.com - Allows you to post your resume.

3) Craigslist.com - Many jobs listed here are only listed here; the majority are relatively low-paying.

4) Dice.com - I.T.

5) Educationcrossing.com (Education)

6) Idealist.org - The best place to find job openings in the non-for-profit world

7) Indeed.com - Allows you to set up a job alert which informs you of new jobs as soon as they are posted.

8) Linkedin.com - Allows you to search using your network of other Linkedin users.

9) Linkup.com - Allows you to set up sophisticated, detail search criteria.

10) Monster.com - The Daddy of job sites; many recruiters like to use this site to scan for appropriate resumes.

11) Simplyhired.com - Allows you to search using your network of Facebook friends.

12) TheLadders.com - Jobs with salaries satrting at $75,000 - $100,000.

13) USAjobs.com - Government

Another excellent source for job openings in the DC / Baltimore area is the Brad Traverse Group (www.bradtraverse.com ) with many job listings for positions on the Hill, plus policy, communication and administrative jobs related to government.  There is a $5 monthly fee.
